A social enterprise, an intermediate form between a for-profit and nonprofit enterprise, refers to a company (organization) that carries out business activities such asthe production and sales of goods and services while pursuing the achievement of social goals first.
The term "social enterprise" means an entity certified by the Minister of Employment and Labor to be the one that pursues a social objective aimed at enhancing the quality of life of community residents by providing vulnerable social groups with social services or job opportunities or by contributing to the communities while conducting its business activities, such as the manufacture or sale of goods and services in accordance with the Social Enterprise Promotion Act.
